Venue - Akarana Golf Club

Akarana is one of the closest quality golf courses to the middle of Auckland and has a busy and involved membership. The clubhouse, opened in 1994 and open 7 days a week, is one of the busiest in Auckland golf and famous for its daily conviviality.

Akarana now has two distinct nines. The shorter inner loop with a par of 34 has one of the great holes in Auckland golf, the par three 8th which measures 176 metres from the blue tee to a narrow green with bunkers on the left and water on the right.

The longer outer nine, which has out of bounds on the left of six holes, has the two longer par fives, two demanding par fours in the 13th and 15th, the testing par three 16th and an exciting short par 4 to finish which produces many birdies.

The full layout measures around 5800 metres from the back tees but the course rating is over par at 70.6 and the slope is 124.

About Look Good Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better is a free service offered to women undergoing treatment for cancer. Our aim is to help restore and enhance the appearance of cancer patients both during and after treatment. We offer guidance, information and makeover expertise at special workshops throughout New Zealand.

Look Good Feel Better workshops are held in 23 centres across New Zealand. At a Look Good Feel Better workshop, we help patients face cancer with greater confidence and a renewed sense of self. We work with small, informal groups of female cancer patients to transform not just their look but their outlook as well. A workshop involves a step by step makeover session led by volunteers, and everyone who attends receives a free gift and the skills to perform a new beauty regime at home. Attendees find the atmosphere light, informal, supportive and caring.

The Look Good Feel Better programme is non-medical. It does not interfere with medical treatment, make any medical claims or replace professional medical advice in any way.

The programme is supported and endorsed by the Cancer Society of New Zealand and proudly assisted by the Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance Association of New Zealand (CTFA).

Look Good Feel Better was developed in the USA in 1987 and now runs in 19 countries around the world. Look Good Feel Better is a registered charity which relies on self funding and community donations to help keep the programme operational in New Zealand.
